Texas summers take a toll on ANY automotive air conditioning system, and the Figaro is no exception. The Figaro’s system was initially designed for use with now banned-from-manufacture R12 refrigerant. Unfortunately, switching over to the now-standard refrigerant, R-134, results in noticeably anemic cooling performance.
The good news? R-12 (old stock) is still readily available, and likely will be for the rest of your life (albeit at premium cost due to its relative scarcity). And, for you environmentalists, as long as the refrigerant isn’t allowed to escape into the atmosphere, no harm is done.
Reverting your Figaro’s system back to its native refrigerant will yield significant improvements in cooling.
